Opeth is a progressive metal band from Sweden that is influenced by many diverse musical styles ranging from jazz, 1970s progressive rock, death metal, and blues. Their recent releases have deviated from their traditional death metal influenced style, with more emphasis on progressive elements. Vocalist Mikael Åkerfeldt is also noted for utilizing both clean singing and death growls, often in the same track. Due to their unique blend of melodic and progressive elements, Opeth are often classified separately from more typical death metal acts. The name Opeth was taken from Wilbur Smith's novel Sunbird and derived from Opet, a city of the moon named in the novel.

Änglagård is a progressive rock band from Sweden formed in 1991 by guitarist and vocalist Tord Lindman and bassist Johan Högberg. Their primary influences included bands such as King Crimson, Genesis, Trettioåriga Kriget, Schicke Führs Fröhling, Van Der Graaf Generator, and other bands of the 1970s. They released two albums, Hybris (1992) and Epilog (1994), as well as a live album (Buried Alive (1994), taken from a 1992 festival appearance) before breaking up. There are currently two artists known as Cressida:
1. A British progressive rock group formed in 1969, best known for a mellow, symphonic sound and heavy use of the Mellotron keyboard. They released two great LPs titled Cressida (1970) and Asylum (1971).
2. An electronic dance producer/DJ duo from Munich, Germany comprised of Matthias Baumann & Roland Geringer, with tracks appearing on labels such as AVA Recordings and Euphonic. Promise and the Monster is the moniker of Billie Lindahl, a singer-songwriter from Uppsala/Stockholm, Sweden who has made her rounds in twee pop (Carmine St.) and post-rock (Shore for Shelters). The debut ep Antarktis hit the stores in summer 2007. The debut full-lenght album Transparent Knives was released September 19, 2007 on Imperial Recordings.
