Alcest is a French blackgaze band formed in Bagnols Sur Cèze, Languedoc-Roussillon in 2000 by multi-instrumentalist Neige (Amesoeurs, Mortifera, Lantlôs, Peste Noire and more).
Alcest was originally conceived as a solo project, though it would eventually take on the form of a full band as Aegnor (also of Peste Noire) and Argoth joined the fray and released a four-track demo entitled Tristesse Hivernale in 2001. This demo was a more straightforward heavy/black metal affair, much different from what would happen next. After that released, Alcest returned to a one-member format, with Neige moving away from the metal overtones of the three-piece and embracing a more atmospheric approach to his work. Hexvessel is a psychedelic folk-rock band that was founded by Englishman Mat "Kvohst" McNerney, vocalist for blackmetal bands Dødheimsgard and Code. He moved to Finland in 2009 and was joined by a coven of musicians from Tampere that feature members of Galacticka and Dark Buddha Rising. Fusing late 1960s and early 1970s English folk and psychedelia with a love for Finnish nature, pagan mysticism, folklore and the occult, they play a witches brew of acoustic balladry and heavy tripped-out atmospherics. The Fauns are a dream pop/shoegaze band that formed in 2007 in Bristol, England. They released their self-titled debut album on their own label, Laser Ghost Recordings on the 20th of September 2009. They followed this up with a second album Lights on the 2nd of December 2013, via Invada Records.
