Europe is a Swedish rock band formed in Upplands Väsby in 1979, by vocalist Joey Tempest, guitarist John Norum, bass guitarist Peter Olsson, and drummer Tony Reno. They got a major breakthrough in Sweden in 1982 by winning the televised competition "Rock-SM" (Swedish Rock Championships) It was the first time this competition was held, and Europe became a larger success than the competition itself.
Since their formation, Europe has released eleven studio albums, three live albums, three compilations and nineteen music videos.
Europe rose to international fame in the 1980s with their third album, 1986's The Final Countdown, which has sold over 3 million copies in the United States and 15 million copies worldwide (incl...
Candlemass is a Swedish seminal Doom metal band established in the 1980s by Leif Edling (bass), its leader and songwriter. The band is originally from Stockholm.
After Leif Edling dissolved the band Nemesis, he started his own band under the name Candlemass (a possibly deliberate misspelling of Candlemas). The first Candlemass album was Epicus Doomicus Metallicus, released in 1986 and now considered a milestone in the Doom metal scene. Read more on Last.fm . Primal Fear is a German power metal/heavy metal band formed in 1997 by Ralf Scheepers (Vocals/Ex-Gamma Ray, ex-Tyran' Pace), Mat Sinner ( Bass and Vocals/SINNER), Stefan Leibing and Tom Naumann (Guitars). Their style is a heavy power metal sound with the Halford-esque vocals of Ralf Scheepers that give a feeling of Judas Priest's Painkiller era. Scheepers formed the band after he was not hired as Rob Halford's replacement in Judas Priest, a job for which he was a finalist, that went to Tim "Ripper" Owens. Many regard Primal Fear's eponymous debut as the album Judas Priest should have released instead of Jugulator.
Primal Fear left Nuclear Blast in 2006 after Mat Sinner left his job as a label rep with the company in January.
