Nobuo Uematsu (JP)

Nobuo Uematsu (Born March 21, 1959) is best known for his composition for the Squaresoft (now Square Enix) games company throughout the 1980s and 1990s, most notably on the Final Fantasy series of games. Composing all his work on the keyboards, he has been hailed as one of the most popular and beloved composers of video game soundtracks.

Uematsu enjoyed commercial success with the track “Eyes on Me” from Final Fantasy VIII, performed by Hong Kong singer Faye Wong (Wang Fei - 王菲). This song, released in 1999, sold 400,000 copies, a record for any track taken from a video game, as well as winning the “Song of the Year” award at the 1999 Japan Gold Disc Awards. The Black Mages

Earthbound Papas (JP)

Earthbound Papas is a band formed by Nobuo Uematsu (植松伸夫) after he left The Black Mages. The band focuses on making arragements of video game music, from series such as Final Fantasy and Lost Odyssey, also making original songs.

Nobuo Uematsu stated that he would like to release an album full of original songs but is afraid that it wouldn't sell if there are no game songs on it.

So far they have released two full-length albums, respectively called 'Octave Theory' and 'Dancing Dad'.
