Black Harvest

Watain is a Swedish Black Metal band, formed in Uppsala, Sweden in 1998. The band's name is taken from a recording written by the American black metal group Von.

According to Erik Danielsson, when the band formed, "there weren't really any bands anymore that seemed to take things that seriously, and there weren't that many bands that actually consisted of, you know, people that did so much more than just play the music that they liked and the same kind of music that their idols play". They released their demo Go Fuck Your Jewish "God" in 1998 and their live tape Black Metal Sacrifice in 1999, which they do not intend to re-release. In October 1999, the band released their EP The Essence of Black Purity through Grimrune Product...

Archgoat (FI)

Blasphemy (CA)

The Canadian outfit known as Blasphemy was formed in 1984 in Burnaby, BC.. They are known for creating a small sub-genre known as “war metal”. Each member does not go by their real name, but use ‘’ritual’‘-style titles instead. Blasphemy is considered a black metal band, and while the guitar riffs/solos and blast beat drumming certainly fit the black metal mold, the vocals have a more death metal edge to them, similar to Von or Sarcófago. They are recognized as being one of the first, if not THE first, band to play black metal in Canada, at a time when few metal scenes around the world had even heard of black metal. Their discography is as follows:

Blood Upon the Altar (demo) - 1989
Fallen Angel of Doom (LP) - 1990 [re-re...

Nifelheim was formed in Dals Långed, Sweden in 1990 by Tyrant (bass/guitar), Demon (drums) and Hellbutcher (vocals). Soon they were also joined by guitarist Morbid Slaughter.

Nifelheim delivered music unheard of since the glory days of Venom, Hellhammer, Bathory and early Mayhem. Great reviews in mags and a massive underground word of mouth got the record labels interested.

The band signed with Necropolis Records and in 1994, after kicking out Morbid Slaughter they entered Studio Fredman to record their self titled debut album. The band is still banned from that studio... ...

Swedish metal band Ofermod has its roots in black metal, but its members currently refer to their own music as "Orthodox Qliphotic Death Metal" in an attempt to de-emphasize the satanistic associations of the former term in favour of more complex occult themes present in their later work.

The group was originally a solo project in 1996 by guitarist Michayah, who at that time called himself Belfagor and was also active in the band Nefandus. In 1997, vocalist Nebiros joined the band. The duo entered Necromorbus Studios in January 1998 and recorded a 7" EP entitled "Mystérion Tés Anomias" which was released later that same year in 500 copies through PMP (Pounding Metal Productions). Bass player Mist left the band in 1999.
