Just a few years ago, the term Swedish pop was more or less synonymous with the 1960s: chipper hooks, throwback arrangements, turtlenecks, and soft-focus album covers. But in a very short time, the country's indie output-- at least as perceived from these shores-- seems to have advanced two decades, with acts like the Legends and Pacific! finding inspiration in the sounds of the early 1980s. In this regard, Jonathan Johansson is a new romantic, but not necessarily a New Romantic. Weeping Willows

Swedish band that started out in 1994 as a country/rockabilly band, which then merged with the members of Apache and founded the Weeping Willows. According to their website, " The Weeping Willows have played in cafés for a cup of coffee and they have headlined the biggest Scandinavian festivals. They have stayed the same but they have also changed a lot. They have spread their music further than they could have imagined yet they are still quite anonymous. Variation, just the way they like it. It’s all about the music.

Totalt Jävla Mörker

Totalt Jävla Mörker is a political Swedish crust/hardcore punk band, formed in Skellefteå, Sweden in 1996. Their name could be translated to "Total Fucking Darkness".The hardcore punk band Bitter End, also from this town, had just broken up and some of the members (Anders, Fredrik and Tompa) decided to keep playing together. They were not especially good musicians or even interested in music, but it was rather the social conditions that kept them playing together. The idea of their new band was to scream louder and play more raw than they did in Bitter End. The line up was Anders (vocals), Tompa (Guitar), Fredrik (drums). Mattias Alkberg

Mattias Alkberg, born 8 januari 1969, is a swedish musician, songwriter and poet. He is guitarist and vocalistin the indie rock band The Bear Quartet, that released their first album in 1992, the same year as his first poetry collection, Separerade ägg ("Separated eggs"), was published. His swedish language band Mattias Alkberg BD saw success in 2004 when their first album was released. In 2009 he recorded the solo album Nerverna ("The Nerves").

Alkberg has published four poetry collections on Wahlström & Widstrand. He recieved an award from Svenska Akademien in 2004. Alkberg has also contributed as a chronicler and record reviewer in the newspaper Norrbottens-Kuriren.
