Patiently written down dates, noted with a piano and carefully collected on cassette tapes, one by one. An assiduous attempt to keep books of time, to sketch the events, the landscapes and neighborhoods with melodies and recordings of sound. For several years Joel Danell has been writing songs on a piano, all given the names of dates as if they were diary notes. The kind of notes where the writing, more than the words themselves, recounts for the moment of them being written: times of accumulation where the letters stand close to each other and reach far into the margin, moments of pensiveness where lines have been crossed out and others have been added and moments of excitement where the letters have gained in size and defied the ruling...

Directorsound (UK)

"Born 1979 Bournemouth, Dorset. Started Directorsound in 1998 while Studying in Colchester. Moved to London for a while before settling back to Dorset by 2002 and been there since. Now residing in sunny Bournemouth. Released debut "Redemptive Strikes" 2003 on Geographic and Felicity in Japan. Then collected the earlier recordings for "Tales from the Tightrope Vol.1" released by Dorset Paeans, then Powershovel audio in Japan.

Also recorded with Plinth, the rural tradition, Sharron Kraus,Hideki Kaji and Katrina Mitchell and am one half of The Alords with Mike Tanner of Plinth. "

Hans Appelqvist

Appelqvist mainly derives his particular form of musical story telling from feature film, where the music is paralleling the story so as to amplify it or comment it. It is in this form, where sound and image converge, that Appelqvist is conducting his search for unexpected emotional expressions.

Appelqvist’s music infuses the debate on the musical qualities of music. The newness of his acoustic image, where the choice of sounds are not always evident or natural in their context, makes the listener react, certain musical nuances might generate strong emotions while others leaves the listener indifferent.
