Samael (CH)

Samael are a long-running Swiss black metal band formed in 1987 in Sion, Switzerland.

Although much of their music from the mid-1990s onwards has incorporated electronic sounds which would best define their genre as industrial metal, Samael was originally founded as an early 2nd Wave black metal band.

Their first demos presented a slow, doomy style of thrash metal with raw vocals, similar to that of Celtic Frost. Some of the songs would be included on Worship Him (1991) and Blood Ritual (1992).

Around the time of Ceremony of Opposites (1994), the band started using industrial-styled song techniques, employed by the use of keyboards and (minimalist) acoustic percussion. By this time, they had also left Fre...

October Tide

October Tide is a melodic death doom metal band founded in Stockholm, Sweden in 1994 by Jonas Renkse and Fredrik Norrman (of Katatonia). They released two full-length albums: Rain Without End (recorded in 1995, yet released only in 1997 on Vic Records) and Grey Dawn (1999, originally on Avantgarde, re-issued in 2007 via Peaceville) before disbanding because their "inspiration ran dry" and because Renkse & Norrman decided to fully concentrate on Katatonia instead.

In late 2009 however, despite staunchly refusing the notion of future material for an astounding 11 years, Fred Norrman announced he was leaving Katatonia and had reformed October Tide. Joining him were Tobias Netzell (of In Mourning) on vocals, Robin Bergh on drums a...

Demonical was spawned in March 2006 - by former Centinex members Johan Jansson (guitars & vocals), Martin Schulman (bass) and Ronnie Bergerståhl (drums) - with a mission to return to the roots of death metal and deliver a sheer dose of darkness and brutality.

The first audio assault - a four track promo attack entitled "Bloodspell Divine" - was recorded at Necromorbus Studios during July the same year. The disc packed with true swedish hellfire received great reviews and reactions within the scene and led to several offers from interested labels.

In November 2006 Demonical added vocalist Ludvig Engellau to the line-up - 'cause Johan wanted to fully concentrate on the six-string axe - and signed a worldwide multialbu...

1)Grift is a Swedish duo, formed in 2011 by Perditor (Orcivus, Arfsynd) on vocals and strings, and J. Hallbäck (Flagellant) handling the drums. The idea with Grift is to make melancholic metal music with Swedish lyrics about mans' insignifiance and everything unimaginable before Death's triumph. The attentive listener will notice that Grift has some strong ties to some of Sweden's most famous poets and their expression and metaphores. After a few evenings in Perditors's studio Liesmia the band had recorded what would become "Fyra elegier". The Swedish label, Nordvis Production, offered the band to release the material as a mini CD (premiere on 15.04.2013), and there we are now. Official:
