Josephine Foster is an American singer-songwriter and musician from Colorado. In addition to her solo recordings, she has performed with Born Heller (a duo featuring bassist Jason Ajemian) and The Children's Hour (an indie pop band with songwriter Andrew Bar), plus she has releases under the name Josephine Foster and the Supposed and Josephine Foster & The Victor Herrero Band.
As an adolescent Foster worked as a funeral and wedding singer, and aspired to become an opera singer. After her studies she began to record demos of her own songs, resulting in the early recordings There Are Eyes Above (2000), an album of ukulele accompanied songs strongly influenced by Tin Pan Alley, and an album of children's songs, Little Life (2001...
Víctor Herrero was introduced to music in his childhood, studying Gregorian and Mozarabic chant under the guidance of Benedictine monks (while living in Franco’s infamous monastery El Valle de los Caídos). Joining the abbey’s boys’ choir he performed internationally and was featured in the soundtrack and as an extra in the Belgian independent film ‘Farinelli’ (Gérard Corbiau, 1994). Around this time he began studying the classical guitar.
As a teenager back in his hometown Toledo he formed a psych-rock outfit called ‘Cicely’, which grew into a popular Madrid-based band. The group lasted 8 years. Pikelet is a band from Melbourne, initially just the name for solo artist Evelyn Morris (Baseball, True Radical Miracle), who begun playing music in indie and hardcore bands as a drummer and vocalist.
After leaving these bands, she started overlapping acoustic guitar, piano accordion, voice and alternative percussion techniques with a looping pedal, and created a handmade demo CD, 'Chair + Lamp', unofficially released in mid-2006, followed by another self-released EP, entitled, 'Track-Suit Pants EP', in January 2007, followed by her self-titled debut album released in May 2007, which drew a lot of critical attention and allowed her to tour overseas.
