Omar Souleyman (عمر سليمان) is a Syrian musical legend. Since 1994 he and his musicians emerged as a staple of folk-pop throughout Syria, but until being released by the Sublime Frequencies label they were little known outside of the country. To date, they have issued more than five-hundred studio- and live-recorded cassette albums which are easily spotted in the shops of any Syrian city.
Born in rural Northeastern Syria, he began his musical career in 1994 with a small group of local collaborators that remain with him today. The myriad musical traditions of the region are evident in their music. Born and raised in Roubaix, Northern France, 24 year-old Sam Tiba has been producing cubist grooves just for a couple of years, but got deep into music of all kinds more than a decade ago. Well before the early days of his Club Cheval crew, Sam was pretty much unaware of club sounds : his first loves, both as a DJ and as a listener, were French classic rap, roots and dancehall reggae, and then dubstep a little later. He had a very strict lifestyle, drug- and alcohol-free, and now describes his then-self as « kind of boring and self-righteous ». Jameszoo (Mitchel van Dinther) from Den Bosch began as a DJ playing alongside acts like Modeselektor, Kode9, Dorian Concept, Nicholas Jaar, Gold Panda and many more.
Apart from dj'ing Mitchel is making music as well. A few months ago his first 7'' (leaf people) got released on Kindred Spirits.
The 7'' contains 2 track and on one of these tracks Mitchel collaborated with St. Louis based vocalist ''Coultrain''.
Mitchel is currently working on some new projects (remixes for new records by Taprikk Sweezee, Shlohmo and Soosh, and a few solo ep's) and next year his debut album will be released on Kindred spirits.
His debut album, "Fool", was released in May of 2016 on the Brainfeeder label.
