Bottleneck John (Johan Eliasson) was born and raised in Lit, Sweden, where he still lives.
Grandfather Erik encouraged Johan's interest by making recordings for him when he was just three years old. Grandmother Elna's relatives were (and still are) well-known musicians. It was Elna who sit Johan in her lap when she played an old pump-organ and sang Swedish folk-tunes and spirituals like "Swing low sweet chariot" and "Amazing grace."
Johan's music is mostly blues and spirituals. He says "it seems I'm always drawn back in time and place to the Mississippi Delta of the 1920's and 30's. I guess this is THE music that touches my soul the most?!"
